Dr. Jessie Shay, DSW, MSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of Chronically Informed, an initiative she launched at the University of Southern California to revolutionize how patients navigate the medical system. A dedicated social justice advocate, Dr. Shay’s career spans championing LGBTQ+ youth rights to dismantling barriers for the chronic illness community. Currently a social work educator at Metropolitan State University of Denver, she specializes in Leadership for Community and Organizational Practice. Dr. Shay blends her professional expertise with lived experience to empower local populations, drive grassroots initiatives, and foster systemic change that prioritizes patient autonomy and health equity.


Jessie is a grateful, sober partner, dog mom, and cooking enthusiast. She believes everyone deserves to be cared for, and that it’s each of our jobs to make sure that happens.
